descriptive versus prescriptive
i think it's fascinating in the ways in which people conform to societal labels that {they} / {the outside world} place on themselves. i guess especially in the age of the internet where these cultures are cherry picked, and every individual microcosm of culture is fixed upon someone as a lack of commitment towards the wholeness of an identity. fascinating.
anyways i was thinking of descriptive versus prescriptive from a video i watched
i'm brave because i do these things versus i do these things because i'm brave. there's a differential treatment in which the locus of being brave falls. are you a representation of the label? are you by motivated to do things in alignment with this label? or are you doing things in which the label is an outcome?
